CHARACTER INFO
Character Name: prompto argentum
Age: 22
Canon: final fantasy xv

World Description: wiki link

History: wiki link

CRAU: n/a

Death:
Prompto doesn’t die – as we see it – in canon, so given his canon point ( about two years after Noctis disappears into the Crystal ) it’s reasonable to say he could have been taken out by a daemon. Since they roam the world freely because there’s no sun, Prompto helps people try to get to the safety of the cities that are still powered with daemon-repelling light. Choice of daemon? Alpha Flan. They’re huge and goopy, and if overwhelmed, can bodyslam a person to death in an instant. Also, they really like the dark anyway.

What are your plans for this character in-game?
So far, my only real plans include Prompto coming to terms with his not-so-epic death and reuniting with his friends to help them cope with their own deaths as well. Also, really super interested in exploring everything and basically getting into trouble and causing Prompto to suffer even more because #yolo

What aspects of this game and/or its setting are you most interested in having this character engage with?
Number one aspect: being dead. Can’t wait to see what other horror aspects are thrown in because that’s what I’m here for!

How does your character generally get along with other people?
WELL LET ME TELL YOU A THING... Prompto is pretty damn social. He likes interacting with people and trying to get them into a better mood. Considering that one of his hangups is wanting to belong, he literally goes out of his way to interact and engage so that people don’t feel so alone or neglected. So, interacting with people isn’t going to be an issue for him at all. Even those who are negative won’t be so easily brushed aside; it just means he’s going to have to work harder to win them over, and he will.

What is your character's mental state upon entering the game?
Mostly stable but still a little freaked out. He’s not under the impression that he’s invincible, so dying isn’t that big of a surprise. It’s mostly the people he’s left behind and the stuff he still needed to get done that will bother him. At least initially.

Skills/Abilities:
Prompto is a normal human without any exceptional abilities. He is, however, an expert with any type of gun – mostly long-range stuff – and different kinds of tech he can use as weapons. He’s also a master of the selfie game and is into taking amazing pictures. Here is a super in-depth breakdown of his specific canon attacks.

Flaws/Weaknesses:
Though he’s come to terms with a lot of his insecurities about himself as a person, Prompto still suffers from impostor syndrome, a complex he’s had to deal with his entire life. He doesn’t feel that he’s worth the effort or is just some person living a life meant for someone else, but this isn’t all the time; he tries his best to balance it out with having others see him as someone worth the time. Which could also be considered a flaw, in a way: he tries too hard. It also brings to light the fact that he always tries to pretend things are fine when they’re not—emotionally or otherwise. Close friends might be able to tell when he’s doing this, but it’s not always guaranteed because his fear is being tossed to the side and he doesn’t want to be seen as weak or a burden.

His friends are very important to him, so they are definitely a weakness of his. Especially Noctis, since he’s his best friend and his main purpose for the longest time in trying to better himself. He’s also not terribly fond of enclosed spaces ( caves, royal tombs, etc. ) or bugs.

Personality:
there are spoilers for the game below
A bright ball of perpetual sunshine and rainbows.

At least, initially looking at Prompto, this is the general assessment most people would come away with about him. He tries his hardest to be upbeat and not let down all those around him simply because he’s always seeking that sort of vindication that he’s wanted and not something that can be thrown away. So, in general, he’s mostly playful and strives to be the one to always cheer up anyone who might be feeling down or sad about something; this plays into the one aspect of his life where he really desires to be useful in some way, though it’s done with a genuineness that demonstrates he is also particularly caring. He just prefers to do that in his own way.

Yet, cracking through the exterior into the deeper parts of him, there is much more to Prompto than his cheerful attitude and sometimes short attention span. For example, in part of how he was raised, he is not comfortable in formal situations and often feels out of place because of it. Part of this stems from the fact he had a quite lonely and sad childhood, where he tried to make the most of a bad situation by projecting something happier. However, that doesn’t dismiss the fact that he exudes symptoms of imposter syndrome because of the truth behind where he was born. In Episode Prompto, there’s in-depth exploration of Prompto actually being a clone of Verstael Besithia, an Imperial researcher, and was essentially ā€œmadeā€ to become part of Niflheim’s magitek army. Because it had been a long-kept secret of his, Prompto had always strived to be a person worthy of being Noct’s friend because he’s afraid of being abandoned. Even when he tells the group about what he is, he still fears that they won’t accept him and cast him aside. ( From his current canon point, Prompto has come to accept these things about himself, so it doesn’t directly affect his day-to-day. But under the right circumstances, it could still come back to haunt him. )

Other things to note about Prompto’s personality: he knows a lot of pop culture (often referencing these things a little too much), is really into cameras and photography (which makes him a bit of a technophile), is a little claustrophobic (as well as afraid of heights), and kind of hates bugs. He’s also known to complain about being outdoors, though whether or not that’s a by-product of simulating Noct’s own complaints or because he actually hates it isn’t particularly clear. He tends to be a bit anxious about things sometimes, seen in the way he can get jumpy, and regardless of how much he might actually dislike the outdoors, Prompto is very much a ā€œpet guyā€, seen in his excitability whenever he’s around chocobos or dogs or any other type of animal that he can get his hands on to said pet.

Though he doesn’t have the experience and isn’t as combat-hardened as Ignis or Gladio (and even Noct), Prompto always tries to do his best and puts effort into everything that he does to get a goal accomplished to the best of his ability. His perseverance is strong when he gives himself something to aspire to (such as when he spent years trying to project himself in a way he thought was worthy of being Noctis’ friend and then training to go on the trip to help protect Noct), and honestly, he just wants the best for everyone around him.
