[ But look, he's already heading over to the door to throw it open because Nero is just being ridiculous, and Prompto doesn't actually care. He doesn't even care that he immediately throws his arms around him either, stretching up so he can hug him properly. ]

[He’s in the middle of trying to message back when the door opens and Prompto is there and he doesn’t know what to say. Hence the weird lurking outside.

Nero puts arms around the gunner’s middle to pull him in, and drops his face into his neck awkwardly. What’s he supposed to do now? It’s weird, but it’d really be easier to say again over text but at least he’s comfortable to express it through body language and other ways.]

Hi.

[ Nero's embrace is familiar, and really, that's all Prompto needs. He doesn't require anything else, not when some part of him knows how they probably feel about each other. It was sort of obvious back in Duplicity, and when he'd been asked if they were still boyfriends... It warms him to his toes, tilting his head just slightly so he can press a kiss against his jaw. ]

Hey. [ The greeting is warm, cheerful. Strange how he can feel so happy in such a weird, terrible place. ] You could've just come in. Think of it like how it was back in Duplicity. What's mine is yours and all that. [ His fingers tease at his hair, finally drawing back to look at him. ] Were you coming to surprise me?

[Sure he could have just come in but nerves were a strange and powerful thing. He spends longer than necessary holding prompto close to him and after the kiss to his jaw steals one to his boyfriend's lips quickly.]

I just had to be suspenseful. [He glances around then back to Prompto quickly.] I don't think either of us have very much here, but that just means it's time to start accumulating things until wherever we are feels more...like home?

And yeah. A failed surprise. I got cold feet at the door. [Nero is bad at lying, and also bad at keeping shit to himself apparently. At least their relationship won't have terrible communication issues?] I thought you'd think I was crazy for saying that.

[ It doesn't feel longer than necessary, especially when he kisses him, and Prompto just gives Nero a sheepish little grin. ]

You've got a place too, don't you? Not that I care where we stay as long as we're together... [ A thoughtful comment, at least until Nero's talking about the bomb he'd accidentally dropped, and there's a sharp flush spreading down his neck before he can even think about it. ] Pretty sure it's not that crazy. Um –

[ He'd only ever said something like this to Noct, and even then, it hadn't been in that sort of context. Nero makes him feel a lot of different things, mostly all good, and in this place, especially, he wants to cling to that. He doesn't want Nero to think he could do better and leave him, which is just his brain being cruel to him on the cusp of something like this, and Prompto fidgets until he loops his arms around the other's neck and pulls himself up so he can whisper in his ear. It makes him warm and terrified all at once. ]

I love you too, you know. [ The world feels like it drops out beneath his feet, and he has to hold onto him even tighter. ] But you don't have to say it back or anything. Just thought I should tell you.

[Nero doesn't care where they are either. Hell, he'd be fine if they had to sleep in a barn together. As long as they were together it'd be tolerable.]

Yeah? [Well, that's reassuring to hear. And the flush over Prompto's face is painfully obvious so he has to try not to smile like a crazy person. Nero expects it to end there. A mutual understanding that doesn't need to be addressed again any time soon. He'd be totally okay with that.

But then there are hands at the back of his neck encouraging him to lean down a bit to hear what Prompto is saying, and then he's the one with flushed features with nowhere to hide besides the gunner's neck.] Oh no. I think I just feel in love with you even more.

[Besides making him feel weird and soft inside, it also has him giddy in a way he's only ever seen in children. Nero laughs and grabs the back of Prompto's thighs to pick him up off the ground like whatever the opposite of a piggy back ride would be.] I love you too. [It's easier to say than he thought it'd be, and not weird at all to his relief.]

Thanks for putting up with me so far, and please keep putting up with me. [He smiles as he leans in for another kiss. It's easier now when he's got Prompto in his arms and closer to eye level.]
