[Nero's response to all the shit going on lately is to spend lots of chroma buying things for their apartment. He didn't think retail therapy would do anything for his mood, but at least it's a decent distraction. It's great to be able to buy things on his own, but he does go overboard with towels, matching robes, junk food, a new showerhead, and lots of random knick knacks they don't really need.

In an effort to not annoy his new gym/training bro to death, he's trying to be productive in other ways: nesting.]

And currently, Prompto's out wandering around when he receives that message and the following pic, rolling his eyes a little at what he now has to look at every time he takes a shower. ]

[ Well... that makes him frown a little. It's not that he wants to keep stacking more and more things onto their already complicated situation, but he thinks honesty is always the best policy. So. ]

[ Which is mostly true: fifteen minutes later. This place is a lot bigger than Duplicity, so it stands to reason it would take him longer to get places. That, and he's still staring at everything because, well, it's weird. ]

[By the time Prompto gets there, Nero is staring up at the showerhead and holding two other alternate options in his hands. One is a skull, and the other looks like a regular shower head but with a very intricate design all around the metal that it's made of. It doesn't really matter which they use, but he deliberates over it to occupy his time until his booyfriend gets there.]

It's hideous, and I hate all of them.

[He frowns, leaving the shower heads in the bathroom to greet Prompto. Nero gathers him up in his arms, lifting him off the ground to kiss him.]

Did you come to save me from myself? I feel like I'm having a mid-life crisis way too early with this decorating thing. I should stick to training as a hobby...Anyway, I missed you. What did you wanna talk about?

[ It's a good thing their place isn't overly big, or Prompto might have been searching for him for a while. But when he doesn't see him in the main room, he makes a beeline towards the bathroom and tries not to laugh when he greets him, curling his arms around him and holding him close for a second. This, more than anything, is nice, and he's already starting to feel bad about what he'd wanted to tell him. (Then again, if he continues to wait, it'll just be weird, and he doesn't want Nero to think he'd lied to him.)

He gently bumps their foreheads together. ]

You can still run with me in the morning if you want, [ he offers, calm and casual even as he kisses the corner of his mouth. ] But uh. Just a little thing. Found out about it the other day, and I can't really decide if I wanna do anything about it or not. [ Prompto sighs. ] I guess I was here before this? Like, another me? And that other me, um, wellll...

[ He cranes his head to the side, wanting to look at Nero directly. ]

I had a girlfriend here.

[Nero makes the most of the closeness while he can. On one hand he wants to be in Prompto's personal space constantly, but on the other hand figures he shouldn't crowd him if for some reason he might have to choose between Nero and anyone else. It would suck if the reason Prompto gets tired of him was because he was too clingy.

Buuuut special circumstances call for special treatment, and he's unwilling to give Prompto any more space than this. He sets him back on the floor, but is leaned forward enough to squeeze one more kiss out of his boyfriend before he actually allows him to speak. Nero pays attention, not minding where it starts so much. A little thing sounds fine, and not like a big deal, but by the end he's lost.]

You what? [Nero opens his mouth and then closes it again, straightening up and running a hand through his hair. He's not surprised, though. V mentioned there being a version of Nero there that was much younger than he was.]

I'm afraid to ask how you found out. Actually, it's not important. Break up with her. I've thought about it, and I can't share you. Not like that.

[ Maybe that hadn't been the exact reaction he'd been expecting, but... Prompto takes a step back, crossing his arms. ]

I didn't say I was with her. [ This is going to be a problem, isn't it? ] Noct told me. He sort of... filled me on pretty much everything that's been going on, but I still think I'm missing a lot. I swear I didn't know anything about a girlfriend. I don't even know who she is. Just her name.

[ Is that important? Should he tell Nero that too? He'd been honest about not knowing what to do about it, if he should reach out and be like "hey, sorry I don't know you but we're not dating anymore" or "wanna hang out for old time's sake?" like it would help whatever grief this girl might have been going through after losing someone she was close to or just ignore it completely and let it run its course naturally. Prompto shakes his head to throw those thoughts out.

This – Nero, him – is what's important to him. This is what he needs to talk about. ]

I only wanted to tell you 'cause I didn't want somebody else making it sound like I was cheating.

[There were probably better ways to express himself than insisting Prompto leave his girlfriend...ex-girlfriend for him. Obviously she wasn't in a relationship with the Prompto he's dating, but he wants to be particularly clear that he's not interested in negotiating at all on the matter. He'd apologize for being a little extra about it later, but he currently had very little chill to spare.]

Cheating? [Nero's expression becomes a bit more serious, and he takes Prompto by the hand to pull him to the couch to sit.]

I know we haven't been here long, but it looks like they do similar things that Duplicity did. I don't think it's as bad, but it's probably impossible to avoid all together. So..I don't know what cheating would look like here, but definitely you can't have another boyfriend. Or another girlfriend. Otherwise, we can say it's not cheating.

[At least so Prompto won't have to worry or feel bad about what happened with V.]

[ He lets Nero guide him along until they're both sitting, but there's something about this conversation that he suddenly doesn't like. It's not that he would ever think of someone else the way he thinks of Nero, regardless of his feelings for a few others that are already here, and yet... Why does this suddenly seem like some sort of ultimatum he's going to have to make? That's not what he thought they'd talk about when he'd mentioned having a girlfriend he didn't know or remember.

Being put on the spot makes him uncomfortable, and he shifts a little in his seat, teeth worrying at his bottom lip. ]

I wasn't trying to make you think I didn't wanna be together or anything like that. It's just been a lot being here. [ And after seeing him again, with so much time separating them – ] You've been through a lot too. So... same goes for you, okay? I know that stuff's not gonna be super avoidable since we're still figuring this place out, but I've got you.

[ And he wouldn't let him down. ]

[His plan was to make Prompto feel comfortable and not so concerned about cheating because that would be stressful with all the little tricks they have to get people to produce more chroma. It wasn't his intention to make his boyfriend feel cornered--or like he was giving him an ultimatum though he does understand how it might be interpreted that way only after he said it.]

I don't think you have anything to worry about unless you have a twin walking around here, or something. [He watches Prompto for a moment longer like he's going to say something, but instead just leans back against the couch.]

Thanks. I don't know if I would be able to deal with it all if you weren't here with me. [It's not what he was going to say, but it's still comforting in the same way. Or at least he hopes. Nero puts his hand on Prompto's, tugging gently.] Hopefully your ex girlfriend doesn't try to take you from me.

[ He does his best not to pull a face when he says that. Twin. Yeah. Totally possible if a bunch of MTs suddenly dropped in Lunatia without their helmets on. But that's another thought for another time, slowly shifting so he presses against Nero's side and rests his head on him. All of this, honestly, is laughable, and he doesn't even feel like the same person he had been over a year ago when he'd first come to Duplicity.

How many more times would he hear that from people he's known? It's worrying, honestly. ]

Nah. I mean, I don't even know what she looks like. [ That's probably not helping. Prompto's laugh is a little weak. ] Maybe it's not the best tactic, but I've been kinda avoiding talking to a lot of people. Still not really sure what to make of this place.

I'm kidding! [He doesn't know what that slight change in Prompto's expression was, but he'd rather be safe than sorry.] I don't think I'd actually go for your twin if you were around. [It was supposed to be reassuring but it comes out a bit questionable, but hopefully Prompto knows what he means. He lets his head rest on top of his boyfriend's blond hair for a while, smiling.]

I'm okay if you never know what she looks like. [Nero lets himself laugh too, feeling a strange sense of comfort and safety like this. It's almost the perfect atmosphere to say something stupid.]

It's not perfect, but at least no one has tried to have me sold at an auction to the highest bidder. I think you should try to talk to people..make friends. Just not boyfriends or girlfriends. [His fingers squeeze at Prompto's hand as he shifts to look over at him.] I'm sorry I'm so possessive.. I try not to be, but I love you. [Yeah, definitely a comfortable enough moment to say a stupid thing.]

[ He's absolutely certain he knows where this is going before it even gets there, and Prompto scrambles from where he's sitting to crawl on him, immediately pressing his palm against his mouth to smother the 'I love you' into a mumble. He can still make it out, feeling his chest squeeze at the thought as his expression falls, and there's a slight shake of his head, insistent on Nero not saying anything else. ]

Don't. [ It's a soft protest. ] I – I don't wanna jinx this, okay? I know, and I think I do too. But... [ How does he explain this without it being strange? ] I've had bad luck with people telling me that and then disappearing the next day. I wouldn't know what to do if you left me here again.

[ So, Nero might be a little possessive, but Prompto's apparently clingy. And slowly, he lets his hand drop so he can press forward and gently kiss him. His fingers push through his hair, and he wriggles to embrace him, tucking his face against that spot between neck and shoulder and hoping that Nero wouldn't be mad at him for this. ]

[Before he can say anything there's a hand on his mouth trying to stop him from getting out those last words. Nero can take a hint. Maybe now wasn't the best time to reveal something like that.

He understands what Prompto has gone through to some extent. So he's not surprised that he knows already, but he is disappointed to hear that his boyfriend thinks he does as well even though he doesn't want to talk about it anymore. Nero nods, giving in easily to Prompto's request as he'd never cave this easily for anyone else. Nero feels the opposite way, though. He feels like they could be separated again, so why bother to hold back when it could all end?

Because he loves Prompto whether or not the feeling is reciprocated, he'll do as he says even once the hand leaves his mouth.]

Fine, then I hate you. I hate you so much. [He grins, arms tightening around Prompto as he shifts to push him down onto his back, trapping the shorter man between himself and the couch.] I just can't stand being around you and it makes me so miserable. [Nero presses kisses to Prompto's lips, his chin, and then his neck while his hands start to undo the front of his pants.]

Nero is not really trying to make this moment about sex, but also thinks he might implode if he's not allowed to say the words and also not act on them.
