[ v might honestly have forgotten he called in the first place, with how long the silence draws on. certainly, the way he inhales sharply when prompto first speaks seems that way. but at least the drunk listens, instead of talking over him.

he sinks closer to the surface of the table he's on. ]

[ he is thinking of nero, admittedly. ]

I know the feeling. [ It's a soft mumble, dropping his gaze to stare at his lap as he curls his fingers into his palm. A little harder, and he might actually feel it. ] And yeah... lots of someones. Even before I met Nero – I think that's the worst part about being in places like this. You never know when it's gonna be your last time seeing somebody.

[ He sinks down into the cushions. ]

S'why it's easier to try to make it count even if you've got your problems with whoever, you know?

[ v's breathing is a little louder just because he's drunk, but his soft words still make it over that. he buries his forehead against his arm, cradling the phone to his ear. ]

I ... wish I had told him more. About what had happened. About how I felt. We were always so different, but he was my brother.

It doesn't mean you can't. It'll be okay.

[ But even that feels like a lie, feeling uncomfortable and uncertain and like a bad friend. Even worse, a hypocrite because he never takes his own advice. ]

Are you by yourself now? I can call someone to come get you, or... I dunno. If you don't wanna be alone, I can sit with you.

[ as if having an externally manifested part of himself with him is actually having someone with him. although she is doing a good job fussing over him and keeping him from slumping out of the chair.

he lets out a soft exhale. ]

[ prompto's gonna get a hella apology basket of stuff the next morning for v bothering him. ]

Okay... [ He doesn't know if he believes that, exactly, but in all honesty, he still hasn't figured out who else V is close to here (and he would never ask Nero to go check on him). ] If you need anything else, promise you'll call or text?

[ Otherwise, he's not going to be able to rest easy knowing he'd just hung up when he could have done something. ]
